I've heard that Social Security pays for information leading to suspension of a prisoner. If I report somebody, will I be paid?
By law, Social Security can only pay incentive payments to jails, prisons, and other correctional institutions, not to private individuals. However, Social Security would still encourage you to contact them if you believe someone in jail is improperly receiving Social Security benefits. This report can be made anonymously. To get in touch with Social Security, you can call, FAX, write, or visit the Social Security Administration’s Internet website at http://www.socialsecurity.gov.
