The term "call risk" refers to the risk to a bondholder that a bond may be redeemed (or "called") before its scheduled maturity. The risk of having a bond called before maturity is that the investor may be unable to replace the bond's yield with another similar-quality bond with the same yield. The call risk increases during periods of falling interest rates.
