The "Russell 3000 Index" is an index measuring the performance of the 3,000 largest U.S. companies as determined by total market capitalization. The Russell 3000 Index is also subdivided into a number of sub-indexes, such as the Russell 2000 Index, which measure the performance of the 2000 smallest companies in the Russell 3000 Index.
