I am a police officer, and my job is not covered by Social Security. I have heard that Texas teachers are affected by the GPO and by recent changes Congress made to the GPO provision. Will the GPO and these changes affect me as well?

Probably. The GPO affects most government workers who will be eligible for Social Security spouse’s or surviving spouse’s benefits and who also will receive a government pension for work not covered by Social Security.
